The Bastide

If its Provençal charm you’re looking for, then an 18th-century bastide set in the vineyards near Lorgues, Provence makes for the perfect base to explore the region. Walk, cycle, swim in the pool, enjoy the peace surroundings. Visit the Cote d’Azur under an hour away, discover the local wines, or explore the Gorge du Verdon nearby.

The whole of the ground floor and gardens are there for you to enjoy. Lounge by the pool with a glass of the estate’s wine, or barbecue on the shady terrace. Enjoy a sundowner with a very local rosé, and enjoy the views of the hillsides and vineyards of the Var.

From what used to be animal stalls, has now been unrecognisably transformed into a comfortable living room and dining area with access to the outside space.

Comfortable sofas for relaxing, and a fireplace for those cosy evenings. The well appointed kitchen is in rustic Provençal style, as are three double bedrooms (one with ensuite) and a separate bathroom and WC.

Lindsay takes us on a tour of the bastide in this video below:

Lindsay and Michele live upstairs in the upper two floors of the Bastide with a completely separate entrance on the other side of the building. They are there for anything you need, like a quick chat for some local information, but otherwise you have the lower floor, the shaded terrace, swimming pool and tranquility to enjoy completely to yourself.

“I cannot recommend this apartment highly enough. It has a lovely homely feel, spacious, with comfortable beds and seating and equipped with everything you need. It is simply decorated which perfectly suits the antique furnishings. Outside there is a large shady terrace with large table and chairs and a superb swimming pool for our sole use. There are chairs and longers around the pool and plenty of shade if you don’t wish to sit in the sun. We received a lovely warm welcome from the charming Lindsay and Michele. Although they live above, we felt completey private during our stay.” ~ Jill

Access to the ground floor accommodation, and parking area are independent and self-contained.

You are two miles from the market town of Lorgues, 40 minutes from the Côte d’Azur, and Lindsay is only too happy to take you on a boat trip in the Gulf of St Tropez.
